Virtual Myofunctional Therapy — Available Anywhere in Oklahoma

You don't have to be in Oklahoma City to work with OMT of Oklahoma.
Through secure video sessions, Jennifer DeJonge, RDH, OMT provides the same individualized myofunctional therapy program available in person — for patients across the entire state of Oklahoma. Whether you're in Tulsa, Norman, Edmond, Stillwater, or anywhere in between, you can access expert airway-focused care without the drive.
Virtual therapy is not a lesser version of in-person care. For myofunctional therapy specifically, it works exceptionally well — because the exercises are home-based, progress is trackable remotely, and most of what happens in a session involves observation, coaching, and guided practice that translates seamlessly to video.
Who Virtual Therapy Is For
Virtual myofunctional therapy is a great fit for:
-
Patients outside Oklahoma City — if driving 45–90 minutes each way for a session isn't realistic, virtual removes that barrier entirely
-
Busy families — no travel time, no waiting rooms, sessions from your kitchen table
-
Adults with work or school schedules — virtual sessions are easier to fit into a full day
-
Post-surgical patients — ideal for children recovering from tonsil removal or frenectomy who need consistent follow-up care without the travel
-
Patients already in therapy — some patients begin in person and transition to virtual once they're comfortable with the exercises
-
Anyone in Oklahoma — Tulsa, Norman, Edmond, Stillwater, Lawton, Broken Arrow, Moore, Yukon, Mustang, Guthrie, and everywhere in between
The only requirement is a device with a camera, a reliable internet connection, and a quiet space for your session.
What a Virtual Session Looks Like
Virtual sessions at OMT of Oklahoma run the same way as in-person appointments — the format is just different.
Here's what to expect:
Before your first session: You'll complete your intake paperwork through our secure patient portal. We'll send you a link to join your session via video — no special software required, just a browser or the SimplePractice app on your phone or tablet.
During your session: Jennifer will observe your tongue posture, lip seal, breathing patterns, and swallowing function — all visible on camera with the right positioning. She'll coach you through exercises in real time, correct form as needed, and answer questions just as she would in person.
Between sessions: You'll practice your customized exercises at home for about 5 minutes twice a day. Progress is tracked session to session. Most patients meet every other week for 12–14 sessions total.
What you'll need:
-
A phone, tablet, or laptop with a working camera
-
A quiet, well-lit space
-
A mirror if possible — many exercises are easier to learn watching yourself
-
Your therapy toolkit, which we'll help you source before your first session
Common Questions About Virtual Therapy
Is virtual therapy as effective as in-person?
For myofunctional therapy, yes. The exercises are home-based by design — meaning the real work happens between sessions, not during them. What happens in a session is observation, instruction, and correction — all of which work just as well on video. Many of our patients choose virtual from the start and achieve the same outcomes as in-person patients.
Do I need special equipment?
No. A phone, tablet, or laptop with a working camera is all you need. We recommend a well-lit space and a mirror nearby for exercise practice, but neither is required to get started.
How do I get my therapy toolkit?
We'll send you a list of what you need before your first session. Most items are available on Amazon and inexpensive. Some patients pick up their toolkit at our Oklahoma City office if they're local.
Is virtual available for children?
Yes — virtual therapy works well for children ages 6 and up. Younger children generally do better in person where Jennifer can more easily guide them through exercises hands-on.
What platform do you use? We use SimplePractice, a HIPAA-compliant telehealth platform. No app download is required — you can join directly from a browser link we send before your session.
