Healthcare provider collaboration for myofunctional therapy referrals in Oklahoma City

Referring Providers:

A Myofunctional Therapist Your Patients Can Trust

OMT of Oklahoma accepts referrals from dentists, orthodontists, ENTs, sleep physicians, and pediatricians throughout Oklahoma City and the surrounding area. We understand that a referral is a reflection of your practice — which is why we take every patient seriously, communicate directly with referring providers, and return documented findings at every stage of care.

Jennifer DeJonge is a Registered Dental Hygienist with 20+ years of clinical experience and specialized myofunctional therapy training through MyoMentor. Her background in dental hygiene means she speaks your language, understands the oral structures you work with daily, and integrates seamlessly into your existing treatment plans.

Who We Work With

We accept referrals from providers across specialties:

Dentists & Airway-Focused Dentists — Myofunctional therapy as part of airway treatment, sleep appliance preparation, and post-frenectomy care. We coordinate directly with your office throughout the process.

Orthodontists — Pre- and post-orthodontic myofunctional therapy to address the muscle patterns that drive relapse. We help your results last.

ENTs — Patients presenting with chronic mouth breathing, nasal obstruction, enlarged tonsils or adenoids, or recurrent ear infections who would benefit from myofunctional evaluation alongside medical management.

Sleep Physicians — Adjunctive myofunctional therapy for patients with obstructive sleep apnea — including those with poor CPAP compliance, mild to moderate OSA, or sleep disordered breathing without a formal diagnosis.

Pediatricians — Children presenting with mouth breathing, snoring, restless sleep, bedwetting, hyperactivity, or inattention that may have an airway or myofunctional component.

What Every New Patient Evaluation Includes

Every patient referred to OMT of Oklahoma receives a comprehensive functional evaluation, not just a symptom checklist. We assess:

  • Resting tongue posture and elevation range of motion

  • Lip seal and nasal versus oral breathing patterns at rest

  • Swallowing function and pattern

  • Frenulum assessment — visual and functional evaluation for tongue and lip tie

  • Facial muscle tone and symmetry

  • Sleep history, dental history, and relevant medical history

  • Review of any existing diagnostic findings (sleep study, imaging, prior evaluations)

Findings are documented and a written summary is available to referring providers upon request. We communicate directly with your office at the time of evaluation and throughout the course of treatment.

Conditions We Address:

We work with children (ages 4 and up) and adults presenting with:

  • Tongue tie (ankyloglossia) — pre- and post-frenectomy myofunctional therapy

  • Lip tie — functional assessment and post-release therapy

  • Mouth breathing — root cause identification and nasal breathing retraining

  • Obstructive sleep apnea and sleep disordered breathing

  • Snoring

  • CPAP intolerance or poor compliance

  • Tongue thrust and atypical swallow pattern

  • TMJ dysfunction and jaw pain with myofunctional component

  • Teeth grinding and clenching (bruxism)

  • Orthodontic relapse prevention

  • Post-orthodontic myofunctional stabilization

  • Speech issues with myofunctional component (in coordination with SLP)

  • Chronic mouth breathing in children — including those with ADHD diagnosis or behavioral concerns

How Referrals Work

Referring a patient to OMT of Oklahoma is straightforward:

1

Send the referral

Call us at 405-249-2380 or use the contact form at omtofok.com/contact. Include the patient's name, contact information, and the primary concern you'd like addressed. A formal referral form is not required.

2

We contact the patient

We reach out within one business day to schedule the new patient evaluation. Evaluations run 60–90 minutes and are available in person in Oklahoma City or virtually throughout Oklahoma.

3

You receive documentation

Following the evaluation, a written summary of findings and recommended treatment is available to your office. We communicate directly throughout the course of therapy and flag anything clinically significant.

4

We coordinate care

For patients undergoing concurrent treatment — frenectomy, orthodontics, sleep appliance therapy, or medical management — we communicate directly with your office to ensure myofunctional therapy complements and supports your treatment plan.
